Our mission is to provide U.S Military Veterans with peer coaching, educational and vocational training, job placement and information on State and Federal veterans benefits, in addition to helping veterans secure and maintain clean, safe and affordable housing.
Best for Vets vows to fight for those who have fought for America; we will use our media outlets as well as our relationships with city, state and federal government officials in order to serve as a liaison between veterans and government in an effort to mediate the best possible solutions for the issues of veterans.
We hold monthly meetings at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters located at 1301 Third St, Detroit, MI on each 1st Friday of the month from 6pm to 8pm. Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend classes on the benefits that are available to them through the Veterans Affairs Administration, take part in group counseling and sign up for the many educational and vocational resources through our partnerships with various community programs. Veterans also receive information on how to qualify for affordable housing, learn how to properly file claims to the Veterans Affairs Administration and be able to talk out issues with other veterans who share similar experiences and stories.
Best for Vets has working partnerships with the Detroit Police Department, a Detroit School for Digital Media, Unforgotten Heroes, Bethlehem House of Detroit and Volunteers of America and Sons of Hemp in an effort to provide veterans with resources they need.
Best for Vets helps Detroit area veterans with understanding and applying for their service connected benefits, connecting veterans with vocational and educational resources, we take veterans on morale boosting day trips to major events like sports games and movies, we provide veterans with free medical marijuana cards and host a monthly symposium where veterans and our community partners meet and exchange ideas and information.
